Tips
These are the type of tasks you can create
As all parents have different requirements, please only use this as a guide and do as you see fit. Their are also many more that you can create and we would like you to share more ideas on social media (DiGi the app)
Doing the homework
Reading a book
Tidying the bedroom
Walking the dog
Cycling safely
Playing an instrument
Cleaning around the house
Going to bed
Playing with friends
Having a family dinner
Ensure that you children are part of the process
We want the app to be a collaboration between parents and children. We encourage you to create tasks together for the week ahead. This ensures that your children are aware of what is coming and may even contribute, to confirm that the task and time they have been set are the most adequate. As your children create the habit of completing tasks, they can even ask you to create their own.
How long should a task take
This completely depends on the task. We do not want children to rush certain tasks such as homework whereas others might take less time. We recommend that you indicate in the task description how long you believe the task should last.
Create a consistent schedule
It helps children to adapt when they are given a regular and consistent schedule. This can be done by creating repeated tasks. Schedules can be set up daily, weekly and even monthly.
Create tasks that will help your child grow
We recommend that you set at least 3 tasks a day. The important pillars that you should cover are:
self learning / education
household / family requirements
physical activity
personal wellbeing.
By covering these on a daily basis, your child will be accustomed to complete fulfilling seful and healthy habits regularly. Great way to build the future.
How to select each approval method
A call - this is when a conversation will be enough to confirm that the task is complete. This is either because of the nature of the task or that trust is enough to approve.
A picture / video - This allows you to visually assess the result of the task. It ensures that the task has been completed to your standards and that it is satisfactory.
GPS - this will track the phone so that you can follow their journey during and after the task. The phone will also be on pause at the same time.
Reject a task smoothly
Our philosophy is that DiGi is a collaborative and transparent app. With this in mind we have given you the option to detail the reason why a task is being temporarily rejected. This will give your children an explanation why you did not approve the task and give the tools to go again to ensure it is approved next time around.
Benefit from creating a grouped task
This is when you want to create a task for 2 or more children. This feature allows you to simultaneously allocate the task to the selected kids. Select 2 or more children in section 1 of the task creation to use this feature. It avoids having to write the task over and over.
Incentivise your children with rewards
We have introduced a reward system to encourage and incentivise your children for spending time away from their phone. We want your children to be able to be rewarded and be proud of the fact that they have not used their phone. By creating a simple time based system they can keep growing this positive habit and see the direct return that it generates.
How to use the rewards with your children
You have the opportunity to use the stars as an objective for your child. You can do this on a weekly or monthly basis which can lead to you giving them their pocket money or taking them out for a meal.
You can also give them longer term objectives. This is when your child will accumulate stars until they reach the target you set, which could be the opportunity for a fun day out.
